After 8 years of proudly waving the Gary Fong flag in the UK, it’s time to move on. We have thoroughly enjoyed promoting, talking about and selling the almost legendary Lightsphere flash diffusers and the entire GFI range, but as with all good things (well most), it must come to an end.

We have a small quantity of stock left and would like to see it all go to good homes before we sign off completely at the end of June. To help achieve this, all products in our store are on sale with a minimum of 50% off the normal price.

How to eliminate dark backgrounds when using flash

Gary Fong explains how to fix a common complaint about flash photography: how to prevent the background from going so dark. This technique uses what is known as “synchro-flash” techniques varying the shutter speed while holding the E-TTL constant to “blend” in ambient light. Set the camera on Manual mode, flash on E-TTL, and vary the shutter speed to suit taste.
